AUGMENTED REALITY
DAQRI
Growing up in my father’s ophthalmology office I was fascinated with eye anatomy and optical illusions. In 2015, DAQRI was pioneering Augmented Reality with their SmartHelmet. They asked me to lead their design team and create future products. I began with a round of vision work driven by some preconceived notions about creating a new platform. I emphasized the importance of "Read, Write & Share" and proposed the concept of SmartGlasses. To convincingly place things in space the user had to become physically and mentally one with the system, otherwise the illusion is quickly broken. Below is the very first prototype I built being tested by my team.
